Just Transition Communication Guide for Public Institutions

The Just Transition Communication Guide for Public Institutions was developed as an output of the “Communication Roadmap for a Just Transition in Türkiye” project, implemented by YADA Foundation with support from GIZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). The guide brings together findings from social media discourse analysis, field research conducted in Soma, Tavşanlı and İskenderun, insights from Germany’s experience, and stakeholder meetings held in Istanbul, Izmir and Diyarbakır. It provides an overview of the key concepts of just transition and climate justice, Türkiye’s climate policies and legal framework, and practical principles and recommendations for communication by central and local public institutions. Covering stakeholder information needs, participatory communication, message development, communication channels, and addressing misinformation, the guide aims to support public institutions in communicating just transition processes in a clear, accessible, trustworthy, and participatory manner.
